Anthony Gordon says he would ‘love to meet’ Trump as he names his 3 dream guests

Anthony Gordon has revealed he would ‘love to meet’ former US president Donald Trump, as the Newcastle and England winger named three guests he would invite to his dream dinner party.

Gordon has enjoyed the best season of his career to date this campaign, chalking up 20 goal contributions for Newcastle across all competitions and breaking into Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad ahead of this summer’s European Championship.

The Magpies, who are currently placed sixth in the Premier League, are fighting for European qualification next season with six games to go, and Gordon is likely to play a pivotal role after emerging one of the Eddie Howe’s most consistent players this term.

In an interview with Manchester United legend Gary Neville on The Overlap, brought to you by Sky Bet, the 23-year-old star was asked about the three guests he would invite to a dream dinner party.

Gordon answered by revealing his bizarre combination of guests, sitting Trump down with an American pop sensation and British comedian.

‘I love this question you know, and I’ve always got answers, but now I’m on the spot!’ he said.

‘I’d go Maradona, I would go Donald Trump, I’d love to meet him and see how he is – like he’s so bizarre as a person, and I just want to sit down with him.

‘And Ricky Gervais. Ricky Gervais is a big one, I don’t know why I haven’t put him first, I absolutely love him, he’s so funny.’

Gordon would be the youngest celebrity by a stretch at this hypothetical dinner, with Trump, 77, Gervais, 62, and Madonna, 65, over three times his age.

His list of guests differed hugely to England team-mate Trent Alexander-Arnold, who answered the same question posed by Neville earlier this month.

All three of his guests were footballers, with the Liverpool star naming Anfield legend Steven Gerrard and former Real Madrid superstars Zinedine Zidane and Cristiano Ronaldo.

Fans claimed Alexander-Arnold was ‘flirting’ with a move to the Bernabeu this summer by naming both Zidane and Ronaldo on his dream list.

Unfortunately I’m taking this as confirmation he’s going to Madrid,’ one individual wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

‘I think it’s fair to say Trent would fancy a move to Madrid at some point,’ another said.

‘Flirting with Madrid starts,’ a third added.

Gordon’s next match for Newcastle comes against Crystal Palace on Wednesday, with the Eagles full of confidence following their 5-2 demolition of West Ham at the weekend.

Meanwhile, the Magpies are in fine form themselves, having thrashed Tottenham 4-0 at St James’ Park last time out.
