Spurs transfer target’s agent poses for pictures at Tottenham Stadium

Tottenham met with the agent of Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Giorgi Sudakov in midweek to discuss a potential summer transfer deal.

The 21-year-old starlet recently signed a new long-term contract extension with the Ukrainian giants which includes a whopping release clause worth a staggering £127.7million.

Sudakov, who is represented by Ukrainian agency ProStar, has been floated to a number of top European clubs and Spurs are among his growing list of admirers.

In fact, his agent Vadym Shablii was in north London on Wednesday and posed for a pitch-side snap at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as he ramps up discussions ahead of the opening of the transfer window.

Tottenham are thought to be keen on the player, however, Shakhtar are looking to spark a bidding war which is not to Spurs’ interest. Juventus are also keen while Napoli saw a £34m offer for Sudakov rejected out of hand this winter.

Ange Postecoglou’s side could also encounter problems with Shakhtar if they decided to pursue a deal as they previously angered their counterparts when tying up the signing of winger Manor Solomon last summer.

Shakhtar threatened Tottenham with legal action after Daniel Levy capitalised on a FIFA ruling that enabled foreign players in Russia and Ukraine to suspend their contracts following the outbreak of war in the region.

Solomon therefore joined Tottenham on a free transfer meaning furious Shakhtar did not receive any compensation for the former Fulham loanee, who they valued at close to £20m.

The Ukrainian champions are now looking to offload Sudakov for a club-record fee having previously sold Mykhaylo Mudryk to Chelsea for £89m in January 2023.

Arsenal have also been tracking the attacking midfielder, who is one to watch at this summer’s European Championships in Germany.

Shakhtar chief Sergei Palkin was recently in attendance at Stamford Bridge for Chelsea’s 6-0 demolition of Everton and he says he received lots of questions about his star talent while visiting London.

Palkin said: “This summer window, he has a big chance to move to some big clubs. We have had some contacts with big clubs and some are not negotiating with us directly but are getting a feel for the summer environment.

“The most interest will come from English clubs. For me, he will become one of the best midfielders in Europe and the world.”
