Barcelona could be forced into loaning out first team forward this summer

Vitor Roque has had a slow start to life at Barcelona, with head coach Xavi Hernandez opting to use him sporadically in the first four months of his time in Catalonia. Despite this, the 19-year-old is happy, and understands that the second half of this season is being used to help him adapt to Spanish football.

Because of it, Roque has no interest in leaving on loan during the summer, but that reality could very well end up occurring. According to MD, Barcelona may be forced to temporarily release the Brazilian international from their books.

Roque was set to arrive at Barcelona this coming summer, but his move from Athletico Paranaense was brought forward after Gavi’s ACL injury opened up space in the wage bill. Gavi will need to be added back for next season, which would mean that Roque will not be registered, as thing stand.

If Barcelona cannot create the space in their salary budget to re-register Roque, they would have to find an exit for him in the summer. A loan is how they would do this, although their main aim is to ensure that he is in Xavi’s squad for next season.
