Cristiano Ronaldo unselfishly gives penalty to Mane while also scoring a brace

Cristiano Ronaldo showed he’s not quite as self-centered as some may believe as he allowed Sadio Mane to take a penalty during Al-Nassr’s clash with Al-Khaleej on Wednesday night.

Ronaldo, who returned from suspension in the first leg after being sent off against Al-Hilal last month, had already scored a brilliant opener of his own when his side were awarded a spot-kick in the latter stages of the first half.

The Portuguese superstar is Al-Nassr’s designated penalty taker but handed the responsibility to his team-mate in an effort to boost his confidence.

Ronaldo could be seen encouraging Mane in the background as he stepped up and duly tucked it away to double the home side’s lead.

Ronaldo had made the perfect start to his return to action as he capitalised on a poor clearance from the goalkeeper with swiveling left-footed finish.

The 39-year-old then grabbed his second goal of the game from close range as he helped fire Al-Nassr into the final of the King’s Cup of Champions.

The brace takes Ronaldo to 38 goals in all competitions this season as he continues to show his goal scoring touch ahead of Euro 2024 this summer.

Portugal, under the management of Roberto Martinez, are one of the favourites to to lift the trophy in Germany.

However, there has been debate in Portugal over whether Ronaldo should be a member of the squad at his age.
