Prince William goes through ALL the emotions – including roaring with delight

Prince William went through all the emotions tonight as he watched his beloved Aston Villa’s Europa Conference League semi-final clash against Greek visitors Olympiacos.

The Prince of Wales is a self-confessed Clarets supporter and evidently refused to miss one of the club’s most historic nights in recent memory.

The royal was seen actively engaging in conversations with those around him in the executive boxes and pointed out various things happening inside the ground prior to kick-off.

William has been involved in helping his father, King Charles III, ongoing battle with cancer, along with caring for his wife the Princess of Wales who is also undergoing treatment for cancer, but looked relaxed as he made the trip to Birmingham to watch Villa in action.

Tucked away inside the luxury private seating area at the 42,640-seater stadium, William was animated alongside friends that had joined him and appeared to go through a range of emotions.

He cut a nervous but focused figure pre-match and was seen pursing his lips while ominously waiting for the game to get underway.

The heir to the throne then pumped his fist in a release of celebratory emotion after thinking Leon Bailey had given the hosts the lead before his goal was disallowed for a foul.

William largely remained on his feet during the build-up to proceedings getting started before later taking his seat and matching the anxious faces of the majority of home fans in attendance.

The Prince of Wales’s visit to Villa Park comes on the same day of his daughter Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday and the same week in which he celebrated his 13th wedding anniversary with the Princess of Wales.

Earlier, Princess Kate had shared a sweet snap of her daughter which included a nod to the late Queen Elizabeth II.

The young royal wore a £42 raspberry wool cardigan from Parisian brand Cyrillus teamed with a denim skirt from the same brand as she posed alongside pale pink flowers named in Her Majesty’s honour.

The Clematis Elizabeth blooms are one of the first plants named after the late monarch and start flowering June to coincide with Charlotte’s birthday.

It’s the second time in recent weeks that Kate and William royals have broken with their long-held tradition for releasing their children’s birthday portraits.

Kensington Palace typically releases portraits of the Wales children early in the morning to mark their birthdays.

However, in a break from the usual protocol, the pair shared a snap of Prince Louis last Tuesday afternoon rather than at midnight on his birthday – as is customary with new royal portraits.

On Monday, William was in Newcastle where he gave an update on Princess Kate as he visited James’s Place, a suicide prevention charity in the city.

William met families outside James’s Place before opening the venue which offers free treatment to suicidal men. The centre is one of several belonging to the charity set up by the family of James Wentworth-Stanley who killed himself aged 21 in 2006.

Outside the centre, Julie Cain, 60, asked William: ‘Do you mind if I ask how your wife and children are?’ William replied: ‘All doing well, thank you. Yes, we’re doing well.’
