Barcelona will need to pay more than €50m to sign top summer target

Barcelona are planning big moves during the summer, with top-level players wanted at defensive midfield and left wing. Martin Zubimendi and Joshua Kimmich have been identified for the former position, with Nico Williams being the leading target for the latter.

Barcelona officials greatly appreciate Williams, who is having another excellent at Athletic Club. They are reportedly planning to make a move in the coming months, but their plans to do so have hit a snag.

That’s because MD have reported that Williams’ release clause at Athletic Club, which has been reported to be in the region of €50m, is actually said to be closer to €60m.

Williams’ release clause on his old Athletic Club deal had been €50m, but when he signed an extension in December, it’s now believed that his figure rose, which will make it more difficult for Barcelona to get a deal done during the summer, given that they are already struggling with financial problems.
