Ronaldo out to break yet another record with Al Nassr

The Portuguese forward has one more football record in his sights, and it’s something nobody has ever done before.

Cristiano Ronaldo continues to prove his worth after leading Al Nassr to victory with a hat-trick, goals which bring him closer to breaking yet another historic record, this one never before seen in the world of football.

The three goals he scored against Al Tai allow him to move away as the top scorer in the Saudi Arabian League, separating him from his closest rival, Aleksandr Mitrovic, former Fulham Premier League striker and current Al Hilal player. Despite the Saudi project not going as hoped, Ronaldo’s numbers are certainly showing to be worth the effort it took to being him to Asia.

Cristiano currently has 26 goals for the season, compared to 22 for the Serbian striker. Should he win the Golden Boot, ‘CR7′ would be the first striker in the world to become the top scorer in 4 different leagues.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s top scorer awards

Cristiano currently has five top scorer awards, which he has won in three European leagues (LaLiga EA Sports, Premier League and Serie A), and he wants to add Saudi Arabia as the fourth country in which he has been crowned top marksman.

The Portuguese star managed to win the Premier League Golden Boot in the 2007-2008 season after scoring 31 goals in 34 games played. It was his only trophy as a scorer in the English league.

In Spain is where he won the most goalscoring awards. Cristiano won the ‘Pichichi’ in the 2010-2011 season, breaking a new record at that time by scoring 40 goals. In the 2012-2013 and 2014-2015 seasons he would repeat as top scorer, however, the record for most goals in a season in Spain belongs to Messi with 50 goals in 2011-2012.

In 2020-2021, the Portuguese won the ‘Capocannoniere’ of Italy’s Serie A after scoring 29 goals for Juventus, surpassing Belgian Romelu Lukaku. Cristiano may be ageing, he may not be as explosive or as deadly as we have become used to seeing him over the years, but the eye for goal never wears off, and he is proof of that as he continues to find the net in the Middle East.
